Packrafting Murstensdalen

By Deliverance Team on 2014.05.30 In Places

wide webWith the rest of the team away kayaking the Stockholm archipelago, I decided to put some old plans into action and go filming packrafting in Murstensdalen.

I have been writing about this nature reserve in an earlier blog post, but this time I’m bringing my packraft.

There are two small lakes in Murstensdalen and a couple of tarns. All of them are really too small to be worth planning a packraft trip to, but I wanted some good locations for my filming and Murstensdalen is perfect for that. The terrain is very versatile with moors, mountains tarns and creeks.007 web

The nest 02After following the trail for a couple om kilometers I arrived at the small waterfall at the northern part of the two tarns called Galtjärnarna. That’s where i discovered that there was no battery power left in my video camera. I had somehow forgotten to charge the battery.

002 webThere was not going to be any filming, but I had also brought along my GoPro so decided to do the best of the situation and do some paddling and take pictures.

001 webGaltjärnarna are about one kilometers long and has two narrow passages.

Marsklandet webAfter arriving at the southern shore, I deflated the packraft and hit the trail once again.

scout webWhen eating lunch at the very small tarn Gruvtjärnen I got company by a couple that was out hiking. They had never seen or heard about packrafting so I showed them my Denali Llama packraft. They were really impressed by the small weight and size of the raft.
